Why we exist
Settlement is the part of finance everyone learned to stop questioning. Payments take days because they take days. Wires cost what they cost. Money arrives as an anonymous line on a statement, and businesses staff entire teams to guess what it was for. The industry calls all of this normal. We looked at it and saw software problems, unsolved because the institutions living with them had accepted that this is just how the world works.
So we build the missing software. An API that initiates verified payments from inside the customer's own bank. A clearing node that turns initiation into usable funds under an institution's own policy. A terminal that settles a sale account to account with nothing in between. A messaging network that carries value across borders on proof instead of trust.

Accounts stay at regulated banks, and every payment is authorized by the customer inside their own bank, where the law puts it. Commtrac does not transmit, custody, or hold anyone's funds. Where instant settlement needs liquidity, it comes from Dru, the Digital Reserve Unit, a Commtrac affiliated company operating pre funded pools and carrying settlement risk while payments complete. Commtrac writes the software. Dru holds the risk. Banks hold the money.
What we build

Each stands alone, and each strengthens the others: the API initiates and verifies, Clearing turns initiation into usable funds, the POS puts both on a counter, and Messaging carries them across borders.
How we think
We publish our reasoning before we ask anyone to run our software. Commtrac Foundations is the paper series where we document the settlement problems the industry learned to live with, sourced from the institutions that operate it, and the architecture we build in response.
